About me
After taking early retirement from a career in finance I was able to indulge my interest in Ancient Egypt by studying Egyptology at the University of London where I was awarded an MA in 2012.

I have had two books published:

What Did the Poor Take With Them? which is an academic treatise on Ancient Egyptian grave goods.

“Understanding Ancient Egypt” which is a more accessible introduction to the subject, suitable for anyone with a general  interest in this ancient civilisation. A second edition of this book was published in 2023.

I am proud to be an accredited lecturer for the Arts Society in the UK and Australia, and a Guest Speaker for several cruise lines. My subjects are the history, people and culture of Ancient Egypt and other civilisations of Europe, South America and Australia.
I developed a keen interest in maritime history and now also have talks on piracy in the Caribbean and the South Seas.
